Iron Sharpens Iron
- Every Wednesdays, 12:00pm–1:00pm
Iron Sharpens Iron’s goal is to provide a forum where previously incarcerated persons who are residents in our community can discuss the struggles and obstacles they face as they attempt to re-establish their lives once they’ve been released from prison.
Iron Sharpens Iron takes a look at the obstacles that impact them and their families in their resident community on the city, state and national level. The show allows them to call in and discuss not only the day’s “topic” but also their legal and social experiences as parolees or felons and their families.
Iron Sharpens Iron’s intent is to allow the families and the community to learn of resources that are available in the Austin and Central Texas area that will enables them to enhance their ability to live, work and be involved “successfully” in their respective neighborhoods. The show focuses on the questions, needs and information they encounter because they have “felon” as a label behind their names. Iron Sharpens Iron raises the issues and provides solutions, resources and referrals that assist the persons when they are addressing some of the barriers they come up against.
